Safety head
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003224
A pressure-activated device installed in a wellbore or flowline that is designed to rupture at a predetermined pressure, thereby relieving excessive pressure and preventing equipment failure or uncontrolled release of fluids. It acts as a sacrificial component to protect more expensive equipment from overpressure. Safety heads are typically used in conjunction with other pressure relief systems.
