Shear-strength measurement test
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003368
A laboratory procedure used to determine the gel strength of a drilling fluid, which is its ability to suspend solids when static. This test typically involves measuring the minimum force required to initiate flow after the fluid has been allowed to rest for specific time intervals, such as 10 seconds and 10 minutes. The results are expressed in pounds per 100 square feet (lb/100 ft^2).
