Gel strength

A measure of the attractive forces between the suspended particles in a drilling fluid when it is at rest, indicating its ability to support solids. It represents the shear stress required to initiate flow after the fluid has been static for a period. Gel strength is typically measured in pounds per 100 square feet after 10 seconds and 10 minutes of rest.
