Gelation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001659
The process by which a drilling fluid develops a semi-solid, jelly-like structure when left undisturbed, forming a gel. This occurs as suspended particles in the fluid begin to associate and build a network due to interparticle forces. The degree of gelation is quantified by measuring the fluid's gel strength.
