Expanding cement
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001345
A type of cement slurry formulated to increase slightly in volume after setting, rather than shrinking. This expansion creates a tighter bond between the casing and the formation, improving zonal isolation and preventing fluid migration. Expanding cements often contain additives such as calcium sulfoaluminate or magnesium oxide to achieve this property.
