A distinct stratigraphic unit within a reservoir that exhibits relatively uniform petrophysical properties, such as permeability and porosity. Reservoirs often consist of multiple layers with varying characteristics, which can significantly impact fluid flow and well performance. Well tests can sometimes identify the presence and properties of individual layers.
