Layer
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000198
A single, thin, horizontal cross-section of a three-dimensional model that is deposited or solidified during the additive manufacturing process. The complete object is constructed by building up these cross-sections sequentially, one on top of the other, with each new layer fusing to the one below it. The thickness of each layer, known as layer height, is a key printing parameter that affects both the print speed and the final part's resolution, with common values ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 millimeters for FDM printers.
