Layer stripping

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002131

A seismic data processing technique that sequentially removes the effects of shallow, near-surface layers to reveal deeper structures more clearly. It involves modeling and subtracting the traveltime and amplitude distortions caused by these upper layers. This process is often applied to correct for static shifts and velocity variations in the weathered layer.
