Seismite
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003323
A sedimentary layer or sequence of layers that exhibits deformation structures directly attributed to seismic activity, such as earthquakes. These structures can include liquefaction features, soft-sediment deformation, and microfaults. The presence of seismites indicates past seismic events in a depositional environment, which can influence basin evolution and hydrocarbon migration.
