Fossil

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004335

The preserved remains or traces of ancient life, such as shells, bones, or footprints, found within sedimentary rocks. Fossils provide evidence of past environments and the evolution of organisms over geological time. In oil and gas exploration, microfossils are used for biostratigraphy to date rock layers and correlate subsurface formations.
