Micropaleontology

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002355

The study of microscopic fossils, such as foraminifera, ostracods, and pollen, which are too small to be studied with the naked eye. Micropaleontological analysis is widely used in petroleum exploration for biostratigraphy, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and source rock evaluation. These microfossils provide precise age dating for sedimentary sequences.
