Colloidal suspension
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000756
A mixture in which finely divided particles, larger than molecules but not visible to the naked eye, are dispersed uniformly throughout a continuous phase without settling. In drilling fluids, this type of suspension provides viscosity and gel strength, preventing drilled cuttings from settling. Bentonite in water forms a classic colloidal suspension.
