Relating to or formed in a delta environment, characterized by the deposition of sediments carried by a river into a standing body of water. Deltaic deposits often consist of interbedded sands, silts, and shales, which can form excellent reservoir and seal rocks. These environments are highly prospective for hydrocarbon exploration.
