Turbidite
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004484
A sedimentary deposit formed by a turbidity current, which is a dense, gravity-driven flow of sediment and water down a submarine slope. These deposits are characterized by a distinctive fining-upward sequence of grain sizes, known as a Bouma sequence. Turbidites often accumulate in deepwater basins and can form prolific hydrocarbon reservoirs.
