Bouma sequence
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000429
A classic vertical succession of sedimentary structures observed in turbidite deposits, representing deposition from a waning turbidity current. It consists of five distinct layers, labeled A through E, from bottom to top: massive sandstone, laminated sandstone, ripple-laminated sandstone, laminated mudstone, and pelagic mudstone. This sequence provides insights into deep-water depositional environments.
