Turbidity current

A dense, fast-moving current of sediment-laden water that flows down a submarine slope under the influence of gravity. These currents are triggered by events such as earthquakes or slumps, carrying sand, silt, and clay into deeper ocean basins. Turbidity currents are responsible for depositing turbidite sequences.
