Sequence stratigraphy
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003339
A method of subdividing and correlating sedimentary basins into genetically related packages of strata bounded by unconformities and their correlative conformities. This approach interprets depositional patterns in terms of changes in relative sea level, sediment supply, and subsidence. It is widely used in hydrocarbon exploration to predict reservoir distribution.
