Eustatic
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001336
Describing global changes in sea level that affect all oceans simultaneously, independent of local tectonic uplift or subsidence. These variations are primarily driven by changes in the volume of glacial ice or the shape of ocean basins, influencing the depositional environments and stratigraphic architecture of sedimentary sequences. Eustatic sea level curves are used in sequence stratigraphy to predict reservoir distribution.
