Sequence boundary

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003338

A surface that separates older strata from younger strata, representing a period of erosion or non-deposition. It marks a major discontinuity in the stratigraphic record, often formed during a fall in relative sea level. These boundaries are key for dividing sedimentary successions into sequences and for correlating rock units across a basin.
