Deepwater play

An exploration or development setting offshore in water deeper than about 300 metres (1,000 feet), where reservoirs are usually deep marine sands such as turbidite channels, fans and contourites. Wells are drilled from floating rigs or drillships and produced through subsea trees tied back to floating facilities. Water deeper than 1,500 metres (5,000 feet) is classed as ultra-deepwater.
