Abyss

The deepest parts of the ocean floor, typically found at depths greater than 3,000 meters (10,000 feet). These vast, flat plains are characterized by extreme pressure, cold temperatures, and an absence of sunlight. Deepwater exploration and production in the oil and gas industry can occur in abyssal environments.
