Deep tow

A method of deploying geophysical sensors, such as magnetometers, side-scan sonar, or sub-bottom profilers, close to the seafloor from a towed vehicle. This technique minimizes the effects of water column noise and allows for higher resolution data acquisition of the seabed and shallow subsurface. It is used for detailed site surveys and hazard assessments.
