Crustal magnetic field
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000917
The portion of the Earth's magnetic field that originates from magnetized rocks within the Earth's crust. These magnetic anomalies are caused by variations in the magnetic susceptibility of different rock types. Magnetic surveys measure this field to map subsurface geology, identify structural features, and locate potential mineral or hydrocarbon deposits.
