Aeromagnetic survey

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000069

A geophysical survey conducted from an aircraft to measure variations in the Earth's magnetic field. A magnetometer towed behind the aircraft detects anomalies caused by differences in the magnetic properties of subsurface rocks. This method is used to map basement structures, identify faults, and delineate sedimentary basins, often as a reconnaissance tool.
