Magnetic total field
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002260
The scalar magnitude of the Earth's magnetic field vector at a given point. This measurement includes contributions from the main core field, crustal anomalies, and external fields. Geophysical surveys typically measure the total magnetic field intensity to detect variations caused by magnetic minerals in subsurface rocks, which can indicate geological structures or mineral deposits.
