Crust

The outermost solid layer of the Earth, composed of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, which varies in thickness and composition. It is divided into continental crust, which is thicker and less dense, and oceanic crust, which is thinner and denser. The crust is where all hydrocarbon accumulations are found, typically within sedimentary basins.
