Cultural anomaly
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000923
A feature in geophysical data, such as a magnetic or gravity survey, caused by man-made objects rather than natural subsurface geology. These anomalies are generated by infrastructure like pipelines, wellheads, buildings, bridges, and fences, which create localized disturbances in the measured field. Such features must be identified and filtered out during data processing to avoid misinterpreting them as geological structures.
