Amplitude

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000108

The maximum displacement or distance moved by a point on a vibrating body or wave measured from its equilibrium position. In seismic data, it represents the strength of the reflected or refracted seismic wave. Amplitude variations can indicate changes in rock properties, such as porosity or fluid content, and are measured in arbitrary units.
