Waveform

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004119

The shape of a wave, such as a seismic wave, displayed as a graph of amplitude versus time. It represents the characteristics of the signal recorded by a geophone or hydrophone. Analysis of the waveform's shape, amplitude, and frequency content provides information about the subsurface geology and the nature of the seismic source.
