Wavefront
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004120
A surface connecting points of constant phase on a propagating wave, moving outward from the source. In seismic imaging, the wavefront represents the leading edge of a seismic disturbance as it travels through the Earth. The shape and travel time of wavefronts are used in seismic migration algorithms to correctly position subsurface reflectors.
