Ray
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003053
A line representing the path of seismic energy through the subsurface, perpendicular to the wavefront. Rays are used in seismic modeling and interpretation to understand how waves propagate and interact with geological structures. In isotropic media, the ray direction is normal to the wavefront, while in anisotropic media, the ray direction can deviate from the wavefront normal.
