Drill solids
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001177
Finely ground rock particles generated during the drilling process that become suspended in the drilling fluid. These solids, derived from the formation being drilled, can increase mud viscosity, reduce drilling rate, and cause wear on drilling equipment if not effectively removed. Their concentration is typically measured in percentage by volume or weight, and managed through solids control equipment.
