Low-specific-gravity solids
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002232
Solid particles present in drilling fluid that possess a specific gravity less than 2.6, primarily consisting of drilled rock fragments and clay minerals. These solids, if not effectively removed, can increase the plastic viscosity and yield point of the mud, hindering drilling performance. Their concentration is a key parameter monitored in mud logging.
