Drilled solids
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001179
Fragments of rock and formation material that are cut by the drill bit and circulated to the surface by the drilling fluid. These solids must be removed from the mud system to prevent an increase in fluid density, viscosity, and potential damage to the wellbore. Solids control equipment like shale shakers and centrifuges are used for their removal.
