Ultraheavy oil

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003966

Crude oil with an API gravity less than 10 degrees, making it extremely viscous and difficult to produce. This type of oil requires advanced recovery methods, such as steam injection or solvent dilution, to flow through the reservoir and into the wellbore. Its density is greater than that of water, causing it to sink rather than float.
