Steam
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003605
Water in its gaseous phase, generated at high temperatures and pressures, used as a heat-carrying fluid in thermal enhanced oil recovery processes. When injected into heavy oil reservoirs, steam transfers heat to the viscous oil, significantly reducing its viscosity and improving its ability to flow. Steam quality, which is the mass fraction of vapor in the steam, is a key parameter.
