Thermal recovery
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003809
A category of enhanced oil recovery techniques that involve injecting heat into a reservoir to reduce the viscosity of heavy oil or bitumen, making it easier to produce. Common methods include steam injection, such as cyclic steam stimulation and steamflooding, and in-situ combustion. These processes are primarily used in reservoirs containing highly viscous crude oils that are not recoverable by conventional methods.
