Soak phase
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003485
A period in cyclic steam stimulation where steam injection is halted, allowing heat to transfer from the injected steam to the surrounding heavy oil reservoir. This heat reduces the oil's viscosity, making it more mobile. The duration of the soak phase varies depending on reservoir characteristics and typically lasts from a few days to several weeks.
