Steamflood
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003611
An enhanced oil recovery method involving the continuous injection of steam into a heavy oil reservoir through dedicated injection wells. The steam's heat reduces the oil's viscosity, making it more mobile, while the pressure from the injection drives the heated oil toward production wells. This thermal recovery process is applied after primary and secondary recovery methods have become inefficient.
