Steam-assisted gravity drainage
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003610
An advanced thermal enhanced oil recovery method that employs two parallel horizontal wells, one positioned a few meters above the other, within a heavy oil reservoir. Steam is continuously injected into the upper well, forming a steam chamber that heats the surrounding oil, reducing its viscosity. The heated oil and condensed steam then drain by gravity into the lower production well.
