Cyclic steam injection
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000941
A thermal enhanced oil recovery technique where steam is injected into a well, allowed to soak in the reservoir, and then oil is produced from the same well. This process, also known as 'huff and puff,' heats the heavy oil, reducing its viscosity and improving its flow characteristics. The cycle is repeated over time, with each cycle typically yielding less oil than the previous one.
