Degree API

A measure of the density of crude oil or condensate, developed by the American Petroleum Institute (API). It is inversely related to density; higher API gravity indicates lighter, less dense oil. Crude oils typically range from 10 to 50 degrees API, with values above 30 considered light crude and below 20 considered heavy crude.
