API gravity

A measure of the density of petroleum liquids relative to water, expressed in degrees on the American Petroleum Institute scale. Higher API gravity values indicate lighter, less dense crude oils, while lower values signify heavier, denser oils. It is calculated using a specific formula involving the oil's specific gravity at 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
