Gas gravity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001620
The ratio of the molecular weight of a gas to the molecular weight of air, both measured at the same temperature and pressure. This dimensionless value indicates how much heavier or lighter a gas is compared to air. For natural gas, a typical range is between 0.55 and 0.80, with values below 1.0 indicating a gas lighter than air.
