EOR

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001309

A set of advanced techniques used to increase the amount of crude oil that is extracted from a reservoir after primary and secondary recovery methods have been exhausted. Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods alter the original properties of the oil or the reservoir rock to displace additional hydrocarbons. The three main categories of EOR are thermal recovery (like steam injection), gas injection (such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen), and chemical injection (including polymers or surfactants).
