Tertiary recovery
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003798
The third stage of hydrocarbon production, implemented after the natural drive and secondary recovery methods are no longer economical. It involves injecting fluids not naturally present in the reservoir, such as chemicals, miscible gases, or thermal energy, to alter fluid properties and mobilize remaining oil. Also known as enhanced oil recovery (EOR), this stage targets the residual oil left behind after primary and secondary production phases.
