Recovery
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003065
The volume of hydrocarbons produced from a reservoir, expressed as a percentage of the original oil or gas in place. It is categorized into primary, secondary, and tertiary (or enhanced) stages, each employing different technologies to extract the resource. Primary recovery, driven by natural reservoir pressure, typically yields 5 to 15 percent of the original oil, while secondary methods like waterflooding can increase the total to 30 to 40 percent.
