Hydrocarbon recovery methods applied after the primary production phase, which relies on natural reservoir energy, has declined. These methods involve injecting fluids, such as water or gas, into the reservoir to maintain pressure and displace oil towards production wells. Waterflooding is a common secondary recovery technique.
