Bactericide

A chemical additive used in water-based drilling fluids to kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms. Bacterial activity can lead to fluid degradation, corrosion of drilling equipment, and the production of undesirable gases like hydrogen sulfide. Common bactericides include glutaraldehyde and quaternary ammonium compounds.
