Multiple service contract
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002487
An upstream petroleum agreement in which a host government, usually through its national oil company, hires an outside operator to supply a package of services, such as drilling, facilities, workovers and field operation, and to bear specified costs. The contractor is paid a contractual fee, in cash or occasionally in crude, and never owns the produced oil and gas, because title stays with the state. It belongs to the service contract family, alongside the concession and the production sharing contract.
